Accommodation, travel and other information

Accommodation
We have held a limited number of rooms at the ACE Hotel at 1022 SW Stark Street, Portland OR 97205. The price of the rooms ranges from $85 to $140 depending on the number of beds, nights of stay etc. Rooms will be held until August 8th 2008. At that time they will be released for general reservations.

To book a room call 503 228 2277. Tell them you are calling for the Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology meeting. We have reserved single, double and triple-bed rooms.

The ACE Hotel is a funky place! The building, built in 1912, is located on the edge of Portland’s Pearl District, a few blocks from the Powells Bookstore. It is furnished in minimalist style with unique art painted (literally) on each wall by local and national artists. The lobby has a Stumptown coffee and a photo booth!

The conference space which adjoins the hotel, is known as ‘The Cleaners’ – named after the place that business was there previously. The space is airy and open, with hardwood floors and enormous windows.

As mentioned in one of the hotel’s press releases “The Ace is not another iteration of the modern, generic design product that is now widely available. We have reinvented a classic downtown hotel, restoring a sense of history and place while reinterpreting those details for a sense of modern bohemia …….. (It caters to) people who come to Portland to experience the weird and the wonderful things that this city has to offer.”

If you’d prefer to stay somewhere a little more conventional try the Governor Hotel (614 SW 11th Ave, Portland, http://www.governorhotel.com/) 0.11 miles away or the Marriott Portland City Center (520 SW Broadway, Portland, http://www.marriottportland.com/?src=sl_citysearch_link) 0.15 miles away.
